Today’s sharing: Fill In

Monday, February 16, 2009

Good morning dear friends may your day be filled with the opportunity to show up and allow Creator use you to ‘fill in’ and further its love for humanity.

Happy Birthday to my granddaughter Cassidy and my great friend Terri Mansfield.

Today’s sharing: Fill In

This past Saturday here in AZ a group of us came together for what we call: AZ Embrace. We gather to create a circle of love at our State Capitol, evoking prayers to envision the year as one of peace, prosperity, transpartisanship, and cooperation for all elected officials, constituents, and all Arizonans.

Early in the morning I spoke with my friend Annie Loyd, one of the sponsors. In the course of our conversation Annie asked me if I would be willing to step in and say a prayer if Uqualla, a Havasupai spiritual leader, was unable to make it. I said I would be happy to be a ‘fill in’ if the need arised and told Annie that I meant this not as a quip, a wittiscism, a retort or clever remark, it was said as a genuine response should the need arrive.

It came to me at the moment I used those words, ‘fill-in’, as a reminder that God, Creator, Spirit, Great Spirit, Allah, in whatever name we have come to embrace its essence of love for us, fashioned us to be ‘fill-ins’ and represent its love in the physical. I would ask you to think on this, ‘how many times has someone said you were an answer to their prayer?’, how many times have you prayed for a sign and a friend calls you? I believe and this is only a Shirleyism and my take on this, that our life’s journey may not fit into the norm of our birth-family of origin, or society in general, and yet so that one does not get discouraged, the one we pray to for comfort, for acceptance and for succor, places others in our path that recognize, feel or think like us and it gives us hope and faith that we are not alone. I believe there is someone out there for each of us that reflects God’s presence to us, most often it may just be to look into a mirror and see it in ourself.

There are those of us who find that sense of oneness with their animals, within nature, in the written word, or within the compassion of someone’s story that matches our own. They are a moment by moment reminder that we are not alone, that our prayers are answered and that we are all here to ‘fill in’ wherever and whenever we feel or hear a need.

So my dear friends, ‘we are not alone’, we have each other and we have the love that fashioned us in attendace 24/7 and all we need to do is to show up and step up into whatever manner or mode we need to hold the energy for another, for our community, for our world. The gifts and talents we are endowed with, and the passion we have to share them, brings us together into communion with one an other and we drink from that cup of love and find peace.

Shirley

AZ Embrace -Dances of Universal Peace

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Dear Ones,

Yesterday, I - along with fellow Dance leaders Terry and Jivani Joyce - led
a Dance as part of the "2nd Annual Arizona Embrace" in the plaza before the
entrance to our State Capitol building.

This event asks folks to come together on Arizona's "birthday" with
interfaith prayers to bless our State and all the beings who live here in a
symbolic embrace around the Capitol, folks standing in a large circle,
holding hands.

The Dances of Universal Peace had been invited to participate.

In my near-sleepless early morning hours the night before, I conceived to
have folks form two circles and walk in opposite directions, singing the "We
Are The Rising Sun...."

Offering the Dance instructions, I encouraged everyone to feel free to move
as they wish, and especially to connect with the eyes of those in the other
circle, acknowledging that "We are the change..."

In the presence of some challenges (jets flying overhead and loud music
nearby) about 100 people or more began moving in this way, as Jivani, Terry,
and I led the song...

Not far into the Dance, we observed that folks began to reach across from
one circle to the other, taking the hand of each person they passed, warmly
greeting and blessing one another.

In this way, a "Dance" that really had no prescribed steps, in the hands of
people who for the most part had never experienced the DUP, became a most
beautiful expression of love among Arizonans who had gathered for the event.

Feeling quite moved by this, I hope to share this "new Dance" in this way
again in the future.

[Other wondrous synchronicities included the following:
- Our State flag has sun rays on it ("We are the rising sun...")
- An event organizer had spoken in planning meetings about the Gandhian
ideal: being the change we want to see in the world ("We are the change...")
- Our dance followed a Havasupai (Arizona Native) blessing ("We are the ones
we've been waiting for..." is a quote from our Arizona Hopi elders)
- That same morning witnessed an astronomical event marking the "dawn of the
Age of Aquarius" (And we are dawning."]

With love and gratitude for your many blessings, and blessing to you,
Shivadam

Be still and know!

Friday, February 13, 2009

With all that is "going on" around me - in the past my response would have been to "solve-the -problem" - more accurately - I would have acted upon my assumption that I had a responsibility to solve a challenge that I perceive to be a problem!

Today ~ I sit with a desire to be still and know~

Daily Sharing

Good morning dear and blessed friends. May each of your moments be filled with ‘images’ and possibilities. Happy Birthday wishes to my very dear friend, Cathy Sue Sagerser. Because of this being her birthday I thought of the word Imagine. Cathy is one of the greatest manifestor’s I know. She thinks of it and before you know it she has created it. Cathy is also the creator of the ‘story bracelets’ so many of us were. www.beadbeautiful.com

Today’s word: “Imagine”

Imagine: Picture, Conceive of, Visualize, Envision, Foresee, Foretell

Imagination produces mental imagery, visual and otherwise, which is what makes it possible for us to think outside the confines of our present perceptual reality, to consider memories of the past and possibilities for the future, and to weigh alternatives against one another. Thus, imagination makes possible all our thinking about what is, what has been, and, perhaps most important, what might be.

"Imagination is the highest kite that one can fly." -- Lauren Bacall

My friends, I find that oftentimes in the course of a day our minds seem to command our thought processes without any effort from us. It seems to go on automatic pilot and controls us from the continuous input we have stored within it. It sets its course and we follow it from old habits. Have you gotten in your car to go to work and found yourself there without remembering the drive? Have you reacted to situations over and over again in the same way? Our thoughts and the energy we give them impress upon our psyche the outcome we wish and mirror it back to us.

Albert Einstein “IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT YOU CAN CREATE IT”

What a powerful tool Imagination is. With it we can re-conceive and re-create ourselves. When we hold a picture in our mind of what we want our life journey to look like and begin to create a story around that picture and hold it in an every day vision, it begins to manifest that desire. I know that in order to change a habit or create something new it takes 21 days. 21 days of holding that picture, that vision and keeping it ever present in your daily thoughts and doing something each day to reinforce that vision is what creates the changes you wish. To truly be effective your picture or your thoughts must be nurtured toward that end.

"We are what we imagine. Our very existence consists in our

imagination of ourselves. The greatest tragedy that can

befall us is to go unimagined." -- N. Scott Momaday

Would you be willing to take a 21 day journey by thinking a thought of what you desire, by creating a visual picture in your mind and ‘imagine’ yourself having it? Possibly you might begin today and mark your calendar and each day give that picture life be seeing yourself in it; if it is a vehicle you want, see yourself driving it; if it is a new job see yourself writing a deposit slip with the amount of monies you desire; if it is a new relationship see yourself with someone who is compatible with you and your passion for life, make it real. In the word ‘attraction’ is the word ‘action’ and that is what one must do in order to bring life to that which you desire.

If you feel so inclined please share your vision with us. In that way we, as a group can hold one another’s vision in a good and caring way.

Shirley

Another Powerful Opportunity

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Hi Everybody,

We are moving through this monumental year of change at warp speed. We are receiving incredible assistance from On High through the synchronicity of both Global and Universal Activities of Light. Today I am sharing an E-mail from Barbara Wolf and Jude Currivan PhD. This information is valid, and it reveals that February 14th will provide another very powerful opportunity for all of us to join our hearts and minds to add to the Light of the world. Please read the following information carefully, and respond according to your heart's call.

I AM eternally grateful for YOU and your willingness to add to the Light of this blessed planet and all her Life.

God Bless You,

THE AQUARIAN ALIGNMENT, February 14, 2009

From the website of Jude Currivan PhD,
http://www.judecurrivan.com/media-articles/articles/the-aquarian-alignment-14th-february-2009/

We measure our global sense of both space (latitude and longitude) and time (universal time - UT or GMT) from the prime meridian located at Greenwich, England. We can perceive the collective influence of this momentous astrological event (February 14th) by looking at the alignment from this globally centered perspective. When we do, something extraordinary and exquisite emerges.

At dawn on 14th February the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the seventh house of relationships. And Jupiter and Mars are aligned in Aquarius in the twelfth house of spiritual transformation.

Forty years ago, the intuitive words of a song called Aquarius, brought the dawning of the New Age into our collective awareness:

"When the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars."

At dawn on 14th February the Cosmos actually embodies this perfect alignment to support our collective manifestation of Love and Peace, and the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

The Aquarian chart of 14th February reveals an incredible concentration of Cosmic influences blending with the energies of Aquarius in the twelfth house. Expansive Jupiter and energetic Mars are aligned with the higher purpose of the North Node. The presence of Chiron the wounded healer offers us the opportunity to heal the schisms that have separated us for so long. Neptune emphasizes collective humanitarian movements and the co-creation of social justice. And the presence of the radiant Sun enlightens the entire alignment.

Mercury also in the twelfth house but just beyond the cusp in Capricorn, allies with transformational Pluto to communicate and anchor the Shift throughout our global structures and institutions.

The Moon in Libra in the seventh house emphasizes harmonious real -ationships.

Venus in Aries in the first house energizes and empowers dynamic co-creativity.

And whilst Saturn the great task master in opposition to Uranus the unexpected awakener is suggesting an ongoing confrontation as the dregs of the unsustainable old paradigm reluctantly give way to the untested hope of the new, their placements in Virgo and Pisces brings practical altruism and visionary inspiration to the transition.

At 7:25 a.m. on 14th February - and for the 18 minutes of the alignment, I invite you, into the Universal Heart, to add your own intention for Love and Peace, and to co-create the dawning of the Age of Aquarius to that of the Cosmos. Join in whatever way feels appropriate for you. You may choose to align with 7:25 a.m. (UT) or 7:25 a.m. your own local time energizing a wave of intention that will surge around the Earth.

Winding Curves!

The road is long, with many a winding curves, leading to who knows where!
I remember a song with those lyrics! "He ain't heavy - he's my brother.

On this journey ~ we encounter many labels or boxes others place on us through their perception of who we are, we place on ourselves and even the community in which we live places labels upon us for what they believe we are.

I wonder what defines us? When I began this journey, at a conscious level, many years ago ~ I slowly learned that someone's perspective of who I am and the truth may be incongruent. Instead of relying upon the assessment of others or comparing my insides to the outside appearance of someone else I was introduced to a more reliable barometer.

Measuring my authenticity was the goal. This was the process I practiced then and continue to do so today. Upon awakening, reflecting what is my day filled with and how did I want to show up, what type of energy do I want to convey? Then upon retiring at night I review my day for consistency with action, word and my thoughts. I reflect upon what worked and contemplated the areas of life I can improve upon.

The lesson I have learned is that the only competition in life is with me. When using past behavior with present actions I can identifying my progress and continue to improve. The goal is to have internal desires, intentions and thoughts be reflected in my external actions and responses to the curves in road on this journey!

Thank you for sharing this journey with me.

Daily Sharing February 16, 2009

Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005

Good morning dear friends may the path of your life’s journey become more open and less bumpy.

Today’s word: Journey

Journey: Migration, Movement, Voyage, Passage, Expedition, Mission

Each of us begins our journey long before our physical birth. We are first the seed of us, our spirit that nestles within the womb of our mother. During that passage of seed to maturation all that we are to be, all that we are to experience begins to imprint itself upon our soul. Our physical attributes begin to form and become infused with our spirit which brings us yet another aspect, our purpose. All that we are is already there. We are then jettisoned into the world and subjected to all of its consciousness, its expectations its beauty, its yin and yang and the warm, safe world of the womb becomes a memory.

From that moment of inception to the present moment all that has transpired physically and emotionally, all experiences have woven themselves into the fabric of who you are today.

Please remember that from the moment of inception you were given the gifts and talents you were meant to express this lifetime and that you began from that place of wholeness and that which you seek is already within you. If you are feeling unfulfilled, if you feel you are still searching for you, take some time away from what was and begin to re-define, re-create, re-discover your truth, your purpose and what it is that you are here for and imagine your possibilities.

Thanks to Mary Oliver for her poem.

The Journey

One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do --
determined to save
the only life you could save.

February 10, 2009 - Sharing from Shirley & The Awakening Process

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Good morning dear friends, today’s sharing comes from Charlie Sommer. Happy Birthday wishes to my good friend Mei Lan.

The Door You Alone Can Open

What prompted today’s article was the feed back I got from my last article on how “stinking thinking” negatively, and naively keep us from expressing our full potential. Here is what this person shared:

“Years ago in a conversation with my two sisters, one who had at least 25 operations to cut away pieces of her emotional pain and my other sister who kept telling us her heart was broken and then had three bypass operations, I said to them that I was disconnecting from the family DNA and the belief that I would get ill. I told them I had no room in my life and body for dis-ease of any kind.”

Most of us unwittingly repeat the old pattern that have been past on from one generation to another and we get the same toxic results in our ill health, whether it be mental, emotional or interpersonal. The old cliché,” if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten’ applies here. When we continually get the same result from faulty beliefs we become less active, depressed and hopeless.

Here is one of the pit falls: Most of us tend to blame others or even God for allowing bad things to happen to us or other “good” people. We get down on ourselves or others. When we blame, shame and criticize too harshly our thought become toxic. We metaphorically become like a shut-in. It definitely impacts our health. Our mode of being in the world becomes restrictive. This is because we do not understand the impact of our “stinking thinking”.

What does it take to open the door, to change our beliefs, to place our faith in something greater than we are that unlocks the door and heals us form the impact of our ‘stinking thinking”?

There is a door that each of us can open on our own. It is an inside job that happens through us. Life is a process of learning to have faith in something Greater than we are and that will change our life according to our beliefs and thinking patterns. This thing that is Greater than we are is the Source of inspirational living. Call Source what you want or give it no name. It is our essential nature and it is all pervasive. We can learn to seek It’s resemblance within ourselves. What It does and how It works can be understood.

On of the most recent inspirational works that I have read is number one on the New York Times Best Seller List. As one writer put it: “The Shack is spiritually profound, theologically enlighten and life impacting.” It is a fictional story of transformation that leads to conversation with God that is humorous and thought provoking. Some grueling questions are answered so profoundly that they give us pause to view our own “stinking thinking” and to change our mode of being in the world.

In his book, “Just like opening windows, just like opening doors” the author Wm. Paul Young takes us on a journey that teaches the meaning of John Denver’s Lyrics: “My heart to yours, your heart to mine.” Another word for that is Namaste!

An Email

Monday, February 9, 2009

Annie asked me to post the content of an email I sent out last night.  It goes as follows:

"May you grow up to be righteous.
May you grow up to be true.
May you always know the truth
And see the light surrounding you.

May you always be courageous.
Stand upright and be strong.

May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy.
May your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes be shift.

May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung."

- Bob Dylan

This is not the time for weak people - for indecisive, frightened, worried failure.  These are the times that make history.  The question really becomes, are we the heroes who these times were made for?  Can we lead others to a better place?  Can we act as though we were young? - going and doing what needs to be done - absent the mindful wisdom of age and full of the innocence that makes us strong and free.

I think we are.

So when you get this email - I hope you feel young.  I hope you feel dangerous.  I hope you feel free.  I hope you feel smart and funny.  I hope today you kick ass.

We'll make it.

February 9, 2009 - Sharing from Shirley & The Awakening Process

Good morning dear friends. May you feel inspired to reach for the stars, grab the brass ring, take the leap of faith and live fully and freely. My friends, today’s sharing comes from my good friend Lianne and myself.

Today’s word: Band-Aid

Band aid: Tie up, Cover, Bridge, Holding something together, Temporary Answer

Lianne and I got into a discussion on band-aids a few days ago. It was on how we as human beings use band-aids to help us thru relationships, and even everyday issues. If you type relationship band-aids into Google you get 14,700 articles on that subject…scary isn’t it?

We were pondering the effects of using band-aids on a relationship after the fact. So often I find that we have a relationship that is sinking and we put a band-aid on it hoping that the other person may forget about it or it will just go away if it is ignored. Then one day everything falls apart and we do not understand why. We think that it is because of something that just happened when in truth the wound began to fester long ago. Ignoring it is only a temporary fix and if we had paid attention and done something when we noticed the wound the first time, we would not be having to do surgery now or have the relationship come to an end. Like a boil it began to build and build until it erupted. Oftentimes it leaves a deep scar that stays with us it seems forever.

If you put a band-aid on a sore or wound time and time again, the wound/sore never heals. It needs air to breathe as well as medical attention if the source is something within us. If you leave the band-aid on a finger it shrivels our skin and sometimes never lets the real sore get better. The same is true with relationships that are failing and we try to shore them up with promises, Cards, flowers, and gifts. These are nothing more than band-aids as well. If you use these to make the relationship better and never get to the root cause of the problem, the real issue/s will never go away.

Have you used band-aids in your relationships, if so in what way?

I, Lianne, have used rationalization a ton! I have used “I am sorry” band-aids when it was not even my fault. I have used money as a band-aid. I have read books, gone to workshops to try and heal a relationship. More band-aids…..

Have we learned something from all of this? Absolutely…..we need to be true to ourselves and speak our truth, communicate honestly. If the relationship was meant to be, it would be but only after truth, honesty and true communication happens. Not band-aids!!!!

You can surely see how excited we are over this concept, thanks, Lianne and Shirley.

Namaste,

Shirley

Inauguration

Sunday, February 8, 2009

The journey has shifted. Beginning yesterday morning when I awoke with the anticipation of the coming rain I felt excited. Last night when it began to rain I jumped out of bed, went outside and a smile came across my face like that of a child. I felt peace, serenity, calm and compassion. My feelings came from deep within me, I felt grounded to the earth, and connected to the stars and the universe.

This morning I awoke with a smile, feeling excited to great the new day. I wandered about experiencing this new day and as I did my morning meditation a new creative energy circulated throughout me. Feelings of integration, of intermingling with all around me and within me filled the muscles and bones of my body. The pumping of my blood was intertwined with the flow of the water - the flow of energy throughout all dimensions.

I continue to envision the new wondering and dreaming - What do the new ceremonies look like, feel like? What is the experience of this inauguration of the new? What are the colors, the sounds and the pictures.

Rain is the cleansing the washing away of the old. It prepares the way for the new. The rain is cleansing and nurturing. This is the time of our personal inauguration of the new. What will be our celebrations. How will include and share this will others. How will we document our experiences?

The rain offers the beauty of a fresh and new beginning. In combination with the rising of the full moon we have all within us and around us for our dreams to take their form and be birthed.

Stepping Up Into the New

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Saturday, February 7, 2009
Annie, what a privilege to be amongst such magnificent women such as you, Terri, Caitlin, Jodi, Dot and Jean, thanks for including me.

The baton was passed by all these magnificent women and the many more who would fill the pages of many books, women who raised their hands amidst the struggles and inequities of their times said 'YES", and now we all have said "YES".

Gladys McGary
Elisabeth Kubler Ross
Margaret Mead
Eleanor Roosevelt
Maya Angelou
Oprah
Marianne Williamson
Amelia Earhart
Susan B. Anthony and the women of the Suffragette Movement
Gloria Steinem
Rosa Parks
Princess Diana

They all Stepped Up into the NEW and decided who they were committed to being, to take themselves to the next level and we bless and have been blessed by their willingness, initiative and fervor. Each of us in turn found our passion, our inner need that propelled us forward to continue to Step Up and be in the NEW.

As we gather with our "tribe" sending out a Clarion Call of "Yes We Can", the universe willingly places before us the people, events, issues and means to make a difference. No longer can we as a nation, as a community stand in the shadows in fear to raise our hands.

So my friends, Annie, Dot, Terri, Caitlin, Jean, Jodi and myself, we send out ribbons of peace, ribbons of connection, ribbons of hope and of faith to awaken our sisters, daughters, mothers, friends all around the world to the fact that they are not alone, that we stand beside them, sometimes we might carry them or cry with them and we encourage them to be whole and complete unto themselves. They in turn will pass their batons. We raise our hearts and hands in unison to form a more perfect union, to establish justice, to ensure domestic and world tranquility, to promote the general well-being, and secure the Blessings of Liberty for all who inhabit this magnificent universe.

We are blessed to pay it forward. I am blessed to be in such company as each of you.

Namaste,
Shirley

Returning to . . .

Friday, February 6, 2009

I have spent many years "fighting the good fight." Today I am surrendering to the knowing that letting go of all expectations and going within is the answer for me. Returning to my hearts desire. My desire for peace, my desire for serenity.

Be it that I call this earning a message from god, the great source, mother earth, tao or brother john; in my heart, deep within my soul ~ spending time reflecting, meditating, in quiet ~ is bringing forth a feeling of clarity. Cleaning the house, purging old files, observing all the work I have participated in is a celebration and a physical letting go of the old. I am preparing the way for the new.

Returning to the mother of us all, the mother of oceans and seas, the mother of warmth.

February 6, 2009 - Sharing from Shirley & The Awakening Process

Good morning my wonderful friends, thanks for all your responses to the 4 agreements.

Today's sharing: My favorite affirmation that says it all to me, it goes along with Charlie's writing yesterday.

"The primal Will-to-Heal within me is stronger than any thought, thing, person, disease, habit, or practice that attempts to rule my life.

I do now fully realize my power to change all that appears to oppress me.

We have covered the 4 agreements.

1. Be impeccable with your word.

2. Don't take anything personally.

3. Don't make assumptions.

4. Always do your best.

May you take this weekend and allow yourselves the pleasure of doing something adventurous. Possibly you might want to right a perceived wrong, forgive someone, forgive yourself, practice counting your blessings, write in a journal, call your mom, dad, children a dear friend, be in gratefulness, follow your heart, listen to the voice within and love yourself.

Welcome to Living Life in the NEW!

We have heard about living in the now and now we are learning to live in the new!
With the historical election of President Obama the United States completed a significant shift and thereto the world has shifted.

We now have completed a significant chapter. A major revolution has now transformed us to an evolutionary shift of magnificent proportion. A course has yet to be charted yet we have this feeling down deep within us that something exceptional awaits us just around the corner!

I plan to look around the corner instead of just wondering what is there! So, as we travel on this journey we will share with you our experiences and we invite you to share your experiences with us.

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Annie Loyd and I have come to a point in my life, once again, that I am committed to cease fighting everything and everyone. I am choosing to live in the new. I am choosing to look for the field of unknown possibilities.

I am looking for the celebrations, the joy, the happiness and the love I know is in our dimension and beyond. My plan is to write about this journey and I have invited many friends to contribute as well. Some write daily and some just when they are feeling inspired.

I believe that when we know we are not alone the opportunities along the way expand for us all. So here we go!

~it's all good!
